It’s not everyday you get the chance to style and shoot your favourite looks from a luxury brand like Longchamp, so when I got ‘the call’ I jumped at the chance (obviously). I’ll be honest I wasn’t that familiar with Longchamp’s clothes range. Bags and shoes, yes, we’re well acquainted but clothes no, sorry. Well I have to say their pieces are amazing! Beautifully cut, on trend but classically chic and undeniably gorgeous, this coat being the perfect example.
This is the second look I pulled together from the Fall 2016 collection. Check out my other favourite Longchamp look here. Trust me, you need to see it.
Like a kid in a candy shop…
As you can imagine it was difficult picking out just a couple of favourite pieces (can I just take everything please) but this print coat caught my eye the moment I skipped into the showroom. It’s not something I would usually go for, I tend to choose coats in block colours like grey, black, navy or beige (yeh I know, I sound so exciting) but there was something about this coat. For one, the print was so unusual. Just look at it!
The whole Fall collection is inspired by nature and the herringbone print in the coat reflects a tree bark effect, stripes and stone marbling. I love how much thought and commitment has gone into it’s design. The fabric is soft and there’s a reassuring weightiness that makes it less like outerwear and more like a warm, affectionate hug. All in all a beautifully tailored piece. If you’re looking for an investment coat I would absolutely recommend this one.
With a patterned coat it’s best to keep the rest of your look simple so I paired mine with black skinny jeans and sleek black pumps. I thought the blue bag, also from Longchamp, was the perfect accessory so I borrowed it too! I really need this bag in my life, so stunning! The statement belt from Reiss cinched in my waist nicely.
Maybe I need to give pattern a chance?
I’m a huge fan of coats and jackets. For me they’re one of the easiest ways to complete an outfit especially if what you’re wearing underneath isn’t that exciting. This whole experience with Longchamp has really challenged my thinking on only picking block coloured outerwear. Maybe I’ll give the patterned life a go…
