The lace-up trend continues to have firm hold on our footwear and it’s taking over the rest of our body too with details aplenty on trousers, dresses, tops, bodysuits and sweaters.
Ordinarily I wouldn’t have thought something worn on your feet would work elsewhere but as it turns out I was wrong. Laces are the ultimate embellishment and versatile for any occasion whether it’s casual, for work, a first date or girls night out.
I love casual style as much as dressing up and if there’s one item your off-duty wardrobe needs it’s a good looking, slouchy sweatshirt. One cosy enough to curl up in and chic enough to wear out to lunch. The bigger the better, in my opinion. To manage proportions and balance out the looser silhouette on top, go with a slimmer look on your lower-half. Just add a pair of skinny jeans, a leather pencil skirt or slinky jogger trousers. Check out my current favourite pair of joggers here. I absolutely love these for a dressed down but put-together look.
When I spotted this amazing lace-up cropped sweatshirt by Ragdoll LA I knew it would be perfect for those laid back days. Just take a look at the criss-cross lacing on the side. I love this kind of detail. Raising the bar on the average sweatshirt. Minimal and playful at the same time.

Shoes
Gladiator flats, stiletto and block heels and platform sandals get a makeover with leg lengthening laces. This is the easiest and probably most impactful way to wear the trend.
