This month I catch up with German blogger Jecky from Want Get Repeat. Jecky spills all about her blogging life including how she got into blogging, finding balance between full time working and a demanding blogging schedule, the key trends she’s wearing this autumn / winter, the best freebie she ever received and where she’s off to in November!

Hi Jecky, thanks for joining us for a Meet The Blogger chat! You’ve been blogging for some time now, right? When did you start? What made you launch your blog

I’ve actually been blogging for a bit over three years now, but by far not as regularly and focused as I am doing it at the moment. I guess everyone just needs to start somewhere and see where it’s all heading 😉 The first idea to start my own blog crossed my mind when I was doing a (suuuuper boring) internship during my studies. I started reading other fashion blogs during that time and thought‚ why not just try your own thing, girl?‘. Thank god I have a very supportive boyfriend who also happens to be a photography lover.

Are you a full-time blogger? Do you use any apps to help manage your blog and social media activity?

I get that question asked so often! But I am actually not! I studied international business studies and am working full-time in a finance oriented corporate job. However, I probably don’t need to tell you guys how blogging can eventually become a second full time job! I am currently not using any apps to manage my blog and social media. However, I am a huge fan of lists and have a list for almost EVERYTHING! No joke, they are my life 😀

What does your typical day look like?

My typical Mo-Fr week looks like this: Getting up around 6:30, getting ready for office, having breaki with my fiancé, heading to office, staying there around 5/6, coming home, cooking dinner, working on the blog for around 3 hours, watching one episode of my favorite series. Okay, sometimes it turns out to be just a half episode, because I fall asleep as I’ve put a liiittle bit too much effort in my blog 😉 At the moment I am trying to ‘forbid’ myself to work longer than 10 P.M. but I’m telling you, it’s a struggle! Especially when there are deadlines or I want to work on this one specific idea I have I find it hard to stop. But don’t get me wrong, I love what I’m doing and I also kind of love being super busy. Having nothing to do is literally my nightmare 😉

On the weekend I use as much time as I can get to shoot new photos, write new blogposts, brainstorm ideas etc. Oh, and somewhere inbetween I try to squeeze in working out, meeting friends & family and taking care of the household – you know the fix 😉

Your fiancé Nik takes your photos right? You guys obviously work well together to create beautiful shots! What technical / non-technical tips do you have for taking the perfect photo?

Yes, that’s right and I couldn’t be happier about that. Over time we have become a perfectly well-rehearsed team and most importantly: we ‘speak’ the same photo language. He could give you tons of tips on technology – I am not the biggest pro here. However, I just recently wrote a blogpost with loads of tips on how to nail fashion blog photos that have NOTHING to do with technology. Check it out here:

Which takes up most of your time – researching blog post ideas, writing content, outfit planning, taking photos, photo editing or contacting PR agencies and brands?

Uff, that’s a tough one! Spontaneously I would say writing content as I really love to take my time, with a good coffee and a calm environment, and just let the words come to me – without pressure!

How would you describe your style?

I think my style is 100 % trend oriented, yet VERY wearable in every-day life. Before I had my blog name I was also thinking about something like TRENDslater – someone who translates trends into casual street style looks for the girl next door 😉

What trends will you be wearing this autumn / winter?

I’m currently absolutely crushing on the color red – it’s something completely new in my closet yet it makes me feel sort of sophisticated and I love that. Something I keep on repeating every autumn / winter is the layering trend. It’s perfect when you’re not yet ready to let go of airy blouses or dresses: pairing them with oversized sweaters, cardis and cool jackets is so my thing.

Tell us something we don’t know about you.

I’m somewhat nerdy, haha! Maths was always my favourite in school and nowadays I do 99 % of statistics and number crunching in my corporate job.

Who are your favourite bloggers? Who inspires you?

That varies a LOT! At the moment I’m somewhat into reading about self development, motivation and psychological topics and have found the best bloggers for that on – in case you don’t know this page, you HAVE to give it a try. My favorite blogger there is Nicolas Cole.

Do you think you’ll do any Vlogging in the future?

I’d love to do that and build up a whole YouTube channel – however with another full-time job I didn’t get the chance to do so yet due to lack of time. But who knows, maybe one day my fiancé and me will travel the world for a year or so and I will definitely try it out then.

You share some great tips on your blog about how to approach brands for collaboration opportunities. What has been your favourite brand to work with so far?

I’m so super grateful for all the chances us bloggers get at the moment – I love that about our generation! If I really would have to name one brand only it would be Pandora, because I am officially the biggest fan of their jewelry and wear it EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.

What can we expect from your blog in the next 12 months?

Except from seasonal articles (Winter, Christmas etc.) I want my blog to be (and become even more) a source of inspiration for both fashion and motivation. I definitely want to invest even more time into the Motivation Monday – the most popular blog post series on so far.

What advice would you give anyone thinking of starting a blog?

I think everyone who has this thought of starting the own blog and can’t let go of it should definitely go for it! Try what you like, what kind of content works for you and try to get a little bit better every day. However, I also think that with the massive amount of blogs out there it has become very important to find your somewhat own niche and very own voice.

What are the top 3 locations on your travel bucket list?

Lisboa, the Maldives oh and Rome, which I am finally tackling in November, yay!!

What’s the best freebie you’ve ever received?

It’s something rather small: a certain cream that was sent to me by Babor and completely turned my skin around! Not using anything else since that day!
