They say the devil’s in the detail and when it comes to accessories that couldn’t be more true. Whether it’s the fabric, texture, or shape, it’s detail that can turn an otherwise average outfit into something ahhmazing.
Is it just me, or does anyone else find that quote, ‘the devil is in the detail’ a disturbing thought? I fear I’ll see a two-horned little head in the folds of my clothing but it reminds me of another quote from the book Capirotada: A Nogales Memoir by Alberto Alvaro Ríos: “He had a ponytail. But this was not a regular ponytail from the Sixties, not a ponytail for show or for fashion. It was more. It was a personal ponytail, something more defining and lasting. A personal thing is different, and all the books and all the magazines in the world can’t tell you what that is.”
To be clear, this post isn’t about hair. It’s about paying attention to detail. The fact they happen to be circular in this post is secondary to the point that details matter. It’s the small elements in our outfits that express our personalities and create ‘our look’.
These suede black boots from Mango are a great example of a standard pair of boots transformed thanks to a shiny circular detail at the ankle. In this case the accessory maketh the boot. Check out how I styled them here.
Even if you’re on a minimal diet and committed to clean lines and monochrome dressing don’t pass by the more-than-basic basics; the ones with extra hardware, embellishment or texture. Trust me, these are the pieces you’ll love the most. Feel free to wear a ponytail, at any time.
I’ve pulled together a round-up (sorry…) of circle inspired accessories, scroll down for a look.
