If there’s one thing I’ve learned from Victoria Beckham (in her designer era obvs) it’s that we don’t wear enough midi skirts. The designer/mother/super-woman has reinvented her style over recent years and if you look closely you’ll spot midi skirts at the heart of her transformation. Just take a look at how she styles them… I’m no fool, if someone has done all the work to figure something out why would I try to re-solve the problem?! And it would be pretty dumb of me not to take VB’s lead on this one. Pass me a skirt Vicky…

I love jeans, I wear them nearly every day but sometimes, just sometimes I get sick of them you know? Skirts break up the denim monotony and this season the midi skirt is as chic as it is cool. Below from left: CALVIN KLEIN 205W39NYC, Burberry, Balenciaga

How to wear the midi skirt. Whether it’s an A-line, asymmetric, pleated or paper-bag waist, midi skirts look great with pretty much everything! VB is a fan of the oversized shirt and a coordinating top with her midi. I like wearing mine with a t-shirt and blazer, a sweater and sock boots, or a hoodie and trainer combo.

This striped asymmetric skirt (€29.95) from Mango is a firm favourite of mine right now. It’s floaty so will be perfect in summer with a white vest and mules.

For an alternative look add his shirt and strappy heels to a pleated midi. The drama of the swishy skirt balances with the masculine looking shirt. Perfect for brunch or when you can’t think of what to wear to work.
