It arrived in the post a few days ago. A chunky parcel of perfect mohair wrapped in crisp tissue paper. The queen of knit herself, British designer Genevieve Sweeney answered my prayers and sent me a fluffy sweater of dreams. So as soon as I had taken the essential ‘flatlay’ shot for Instastories (priorities and all that) I tried it on and got busy styling.
I’ve been admiring this brand for a while now. They have an amazing collection of knitwear for men and women, check it out here. The women’s collection is utterly feminine but with an androgynous appeal, right up my street. This particular knit, the Arin sweater, is 100% mohair and super soft and I have to say I’m so impressed with the quality. If only you could feel it through the screen!
I’m also impressed with the lady behind the brand. Genevieve turned her childhood hobby into a career, working with fashion giants like Rag & Bone, Hugo Boss, Burberry and Lyle & Scott before setting up her own business. She’s also fiercely committed to creating an authentic British brand. Apart from the luxury fibers sourced from Italy, all of the pieces are produced in Britain making full use of the skills and expertise of the knitwear industry in the UK.

The sweater is a midnight shade of navy so quite dark. I was going to wear it with blue denim (which looks amazing) but decided to try a navy and black look to see if I could make it work (I like a challenge). I think I pulled it off, what do you reckon?
The two colours are very close so I threw in different textures of leather and patent with the luxe knit and introduced a white shirt to act as a highlighter / contrast. Given the time of year I went for a layered look so no need for a coat (added bonus).
I have to warn you, this sweater will be on repeat so expect to see it a lot!
